You are invited to an exclusive event in the historic Hotel Allegro, which for many decades was the unofficial seat of political power in Chicago.
Join us for a fascinating afternoon and learn about the rich history of Hotel Allegro where politicians made “back room” deals. Meet the new dean of the College of LAS, hear about new trends in political campaigns, and tour City Hall.
After lunch, featured speaker is alumnus Joel Weisman (BS, '63, marketing), senior editor of Chicago Tonight and The Week in Review on WTTW Channel 11. Plus, you’ll have a chance to win a complimentary overnight stay including parking in the newly renovated Hotel Allegro (compliments of Kimpton Hotels). At the end of the event, Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (BS, '11, political science) will lead a tour of Chicago’s City Hall, just a half-block walk from the hotel. You’ll visit the Council Chambers, Mayor’s Office, Alderman’ Ramirez-Rosa’s office, and more.
Event sponsored by Carlton Club Member and Alumni Judith LeDuc, in conjunction with University of Illinois Alumni Association and Department of Political Science.
